AUGUST 08 Discusses New Releases And The Future Of His Career With º1824

AUGUST 08 is a multi genre artist who draws inspiration from the likes of Snow Patrol, Phil Collins, Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, and the movies he watched with his cousin growing up. He has worked with major players in the music industry such as Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, who he looks to as a great collaborator. The Def Jam signed artist recently sat down with º1824 for a press conference to discuss his recently released TOWARDS THE SUN, the second half of the album titled TOWARDS THE MOON, and where he wants his career to go next. 

For first time listeners, AUGUST 08 describes his music as ‘experimental’, drawing inspiration from many different genres to talk about heartbreak and innermost thoughts and emotions. He cites TOWARDS THE SUN as his favorite project he’s ever worked on; Def Jam Records allowed him to be authentic in his solo artist venture and that allowed AUGUST to make a body of work he felt truly proud of. As someone who used to write for other artists regularly, it was a positive shift for AUGUST 08, who was no longer catering to other artist’s needs and could focus on what he wanted to make artistically. Written during the pandemic where AUGUST 08 experienced cabin fever for the first time, he had the time to dig deeper into his own mind and craft the music he wanted to share with the world, the resulting product was TOWARDS THE SUN which allowed AUGUST 08 to let all of his emotions out. 

TOWARDS THE SUN’s second half, TOWARDS THE MOON, has allowed AUGUST 08 to continue his music journey. Instead of releasing the album in full, splitting it into two bodies of work has made the release process more spaced out and allowed AUGUST to focus on perfecting the songs that make up each album so both albums could have a lasting impact. TOWARDS THE MOON will give listeners a better understanding of AUGUST 08’s evolution as an artist with deeper lyrics and hard hitting instruments, specifically drums and string sections. 

Of course with so many aspiring young professionals attending the press conference, AUGUST 08 shared some advice with listeners. He stressed the importance of using TikTok, which is Gen Z’s go to platform and allows artists and young creatives to gain Internet traction. He also told those in attendance to not be afraid to be exactly who they are; AUGUST 08 grew up in a world that taught you that being hard and tough was easier than being soft and emotional, but it’s truly the opposite. Learning to be emotional and open will help you grow better connections and truly get through to people. 

Although he’s a musician and songwriter at heart, AUGUST 08 shared he has other passions outside of music. Golfing, bowling, and fishing are some of his favorite pastimes, and one of his major goals in life is to do a campaign with Bass Pro Life magazine! He also expressed interest in venturing into television and film, and even directing music videos for fellow artists. A healing musician with a powerful message to spread about being in tune with your emotions, AUGUST 08 is definitely an artist you want to add to your daily rotation!
