Harry Styles Delivers The Ultimate Summer Vibes With New “Watermelon Sugar” Music Video

Ever watch a table get set slowly day by day in anticipation for a music video? If you’re a Harry Styles fan, the answer is yes! When it was announced that Harry would be releasing a video for “Watermelon Sugar”, his Do You Know Who You Are website changed its compliments to be “Watermelon Sugar” themed. When you saved the picture with the compliment, you were led to a link of a picture with an empty table. As the days went on, more items were added to the table such as a fork and knife, butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, and a cup of juice.
And today is release day. “Watermelon Sugar” has been highly anticipated since January, when Harry and company were seen on a beach in Malibu filming the video. The video opens with a line of text that says “This video is dedicated to touching”, perhaps a nod to the social distancing aspect of the world we’re currently living in. The video begins with the fully set table, and Harry walks out in a knit short sleeve sweater and a plate with a slice of watermelon, Elton John esque glasses on his face and a really pretty shade of pink nail polish on his fingers as he begins to sing this perfect summer tune.
The video overall gives a completely 70s summer vibe. Some clips are shot on an old camera to give a grainy effect, and all the people surrounding Harry are enjoying themselves as they feed each other fruit on a gorgeous sunny day. Harry’s just one of the girls in the gang, frolicking around on the beach and clearly having the time of his life. It’s also a win for fashion; between the cute crop top paired with a skinny scarf, sweater vest over a collared shirt, and the cute jeans with holes in the knees, Harry serves some pretty sweet fashion moments!
“Watermelon Sugar” perfectly captures a summer mood, chock full of vibrant colors and beautiful beach shots, it makes me wish I could be on the beach with all my friends enjoying the beautiful weather and this song. But for now, I’ll just have to live my summer dream through the “Watermelon Sugar” music video until it’s safe to be on the beaches again.
