Samina Lovelyn is an independent artist currently based in Detroit, MI. Over the past few months, Lovelyn has been writing music and training her voice, as well as learning more about the music business. Her most recent release as of May 20th, an EP titled Runner, is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, among other streaming services. The title of the EP comes from the idea of running away from love, according to Lovelyn. The seven track EP has an overall R&B feel with a unique twist of Lovelyn’s own sound. Music is an outlet for Samina; the songs were written to get her sad feelings out of her system, but she hopes to work on some more positive and uplifting songs in the future.
All seven tracks cover a number of topics; from different aspects of love, to hope, hurt, and other life experiences, Lovelyn has a song for a number of different moods. Her sound is unique; it combines R&B with some pop elements, her lyrics are honest and fit her voice super well. Some of her lyrics include “I want love/ I want trust/ Still I keep running from the thought of us” (Track 5, “Scared of Love”) and “I wanna be like Bonnie and Clyde/ I wanna be your ride or die/ I wanna stay right by your side” (Track 1, Cherry on Top).
