Looking for a new rock band to get you through the final stretch of spring? Stop your search and get acquainted with Weird America! The band consists of four members; Billy Vas Pappas (guitar, lead vocals), Daniel J. Caprio (guitar), Peter Scarpitta (drums), and Bobby Joe Finnegan (bass). The band has been around since 2016, and worked to perfect the art of making music which resulted in the release of their debut EP in 2019 titled $5 Omelette

The band has a number of incredible inspirations which range from the greats such as The Doors, Zeppelin, Beach Boys, and Clapton, to iconic rock and grunge bands like the Foos (as soon as I saw this I knew I’d vibe with their music), Aerosmith, and Alice In Chains. They blend all of these inspirations perfectly, and I simply can’t get enough of their sound.

Weird America wants to bring rock and roll to the forefront of the music world, but they want to do it with their own ‘weird’ twist. They write and perform all of their own music, making them an incredibly authentic group. The band has a fresh and interesting sound that keeps you on your toes and anticipating every new song that enters your ears.

Right off the bat you can hear the Foos inspiration in their opening track “Medicine Man”. The guitar intro is so reminiscent of an early Foos sound and the vocals are gritty just like Dave’s. There’s also a little breakdown with an all too familiar organ sound that sounds almost identical to the key sound of The Doors. “Medicine Man” is the perfect opening EP track, all of their inspirations blend together effortlessly into a two minute and 42 second track that shows you exactly who Weird America are! You’re taken through the course of four more songs; from blues-esque “Danny Killed a Man”, slower jam “How to Start the Show” (which features a solid drum track), alternative sounding hit song “Movie”, all the way to the totally vibey instrumentals and gritty vocals on “Take a Walk”. It’s a really awesome listening experience, and I promise by the end of it you’ll be eagerly anticipating their next album release!

Weird America is currently working on their next single and will be releasing it soon! Make sure to stream $5 Omelette on Apple Music, Spotify, or wherever you get your music, and follow the band on Instagram and Twitter to stay up to date on all future releases. You can also sign up to become an official “Weirdo” on the band’s website to stay in the know on all things Weird America.
