Lexi Mariah’s “Sourpatch” Is The Sweet Addition You Need On Your Summer Playlist
Samantha Colleran, August 2020
Lexi Mariah is a 21 year old Connecticut based bedroom pop artist who has been committed to making music her career since the young age of 14. Her autobiographical lyrics allow listeners a deeper look into how she has dealt with losses in the past. Her fanbase is growing consistently, and with her third single release titled “Sourpatch”, it’s more than likely that her fanbase will continue to grow.
The new release is under Wise MGMT, who Lexi recently signed with. “Sourpatch” musically draws inspiration from the likes of Dua Lipa and Nile Rodgers. The lyrics, in Lexi’s words, discuss the two different sides of people; the good and the bad, the sweet and the sour. “I wanted to get the message across that you don’t always have to be ‘good’ and do things that other people consider to be ‘the right way’”.
The lyrics are incredibly catchy, you’ll find yourself singing along to the “We’re so sour, sour/ We’re so sorry, sorry” chorus rather quickly. This song is truly perfect to listen to on any summer night, it’ll make you wish you were driving an “elegant car” and sipping the finest of drinks as you take in beautiful “rooftop views”. This song has a similar feel to “Watermelon Sugar”, but it’s super sweet in its own unique way!
Lexi is currently working on an EP and is hoping to get out on the road to tour once it’s safe to do so. Check out “Sourpatch” below, and be sure to follow Lexi on Instagram to keep up with her future releases!
Love to see young people doing their thing!!!!! Not always easy to follow your passion. Hope she sticks with it.
