renforshort is a wavemaker in the alternative-pop world. Following the release of her EP off saint dominique which gained a lot of attention and got her named Vevo DSCVR artist and Apple Up Next Artist (Canada), renforshort teamed up with Jeff Hazin and Alexander 23 to work on her most recent release titled “moshpit”.

ren uses the metaphor of a moshpit to describe a toxic relationship. The start of the song is quiet, but by the time you get to the chorus it explodes into a whole new song and you can feel the emotion in ren’s vocals. “I’m exhausted running on exhaust/ It’s getting really toxic being yours/ I’m so nauseous and it’s hard to be cautious/ Baby, we’re a moshpit, oh”, ren sings in the chorus. It’s a powerful statement about toxic relationships, and definitely a strong moment in ren’s career.

Speaking about the song, renforshort said that she wrote the song on a day where she felt overwhelmed by anxiety and described the unique juxtaposition between the lyrical content and the actual sound of the song, “This song feels very unique in the writing, it’s an interesting analogy especially with the juxtaposition of the track being a bit softer rather than what you’d imagine a song called ‘moshpit’ would sound like”. The song was inspired by a relationship “where you’re treated like garbage and just keep trying to get out, but you don’t wanna risk hurting the other person’s feelings.”
