Stephen Sanchez Tugs At Heartstrings With A Reimagined Version Of “Until I Found You”

If you’re on TikTok, you may be familiar with the track “Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez. In March, the singer completely reimagined his hit single and it took on a life of its own. The original version of “Until I Found You” gained lots of attention on the charts and continues to gain streams daily, but the stripped down piano version of “Until I Found You” allows Stephen’s vocal abilities and lyricism to shine through in a brand new light.
“Until I Found You” was written when Sanchez was at a low point in his life. During this time, he met someone who was incredibly loving and thoughtful towards him. Sanchez pushed this person away due to a fear of not being good enough for them, but the two eventually reconnected; “Until I Found You” is Stephen’s way of telling this person how sorry he is for pushing them away and how thankful he is to have someone so special in his life. With a guitar line reminiscent of 50s doo wop and a beautifully harmonized chorus, “Until I Found You” is a timeless classic with an incredibly endearing sentiment behind it.
The song is already a sweet listen, but the reimagined version tugs even harder at your heartstrings. With only a piano to accompany his velvety vocals, Stephen delivers every line with so much emotion. The repetition of “I would never fall again until I found her” feels more sentimental backed by a simple chord progression, you can feel just how special the person in question is to Stephen. It feels way more intimate as a ballad, lyrics such as “I said I would never fall unless it’s you I fall into/ I was lost within the darkness, but then I found her” feel incredibly personal as Stephen delivers them in a delicate voice. It’s an absolutely beautiful listen that is impossible to get tired of; in fact, the more you listen the more you’ll fall in love with the tune.
