Throughout his younger years, AphroVenus moved all around the world, which left him feeling alone and unable to make solid friendships. The one thing that made it all easier to get through? Music, of course! From playing air guitar at his neighbor’s house, to getting his first laptop and downloading tons of production apps, AphroVenus has been in the music world for a long time. After his family made a final move and resided in Florida, AphroVenus bought his first guitar, and began writing songs. It’s been a long time coming, but his first single was officially released in March.

“Liquid White” was inspired by Dominic Fike’s album What Could Possibly Go Wrong. The album talks about how Fike wasn’t happy with where he was in life, and AphroVenus related heavily to that message. Hearing the album and how honest Fike was inspired AphroVenus to begin writing, and “Liquid White” was born. The lyrics talk about the mix of emotions he was feeling; how one minute he would be happy and the next he would feel sad and not know why. He sings about everything that came to his mind when writing, not holding back on anything and allowed himself to write about all the thoughts filling his head.

The sound emulates a psychedelic sound, the guitars have a modern psychedelia vibe and the drums feel like a callback to the 60s with a modern twist. The vocal tracks are kept simple which allows you to really focus on the lyrics and the backing music. It’s a really interesting listen, and it makes me excited to see what else AphroVenus has been working on!

You can listen to the track below, and be sure to follow AphroVenus on Instagram and Twitter, and stream “Liquid White” on Apple Music, Spotify, or any other preferred streaming service! As always let me know your thoughts in the comments!
