Sunday Sounds: December 20, 2020, “One I’ve Been Missing”
Samantha Colleran, December 2020
Happy Sunday before Christmas everyone! Today is the final Christmas-fied Sunday Sounds, and I decided to wrap up the Christmas Sunday Sounds with a song that isn’t in any Christmas specials like I said the case would be in my first Christmas post. Last week, it was announced that after taking a break from Little Mix, Jesy Nelson was officially stepping away from the band for mental health reasons. It broke my heart to hear the news, and I still haven’t fully processed it, but I wanted to remember Jesy’s run in the band and highlight something positive in honor of the holidays; Little Mixmas!
Last year, Little Mix blessed us all with a Christmas miracle and released an original holiday song titled “One I’ve Been Missing”. It’s such a sweet little number, a love letter to the girls’ friends, families, and significant others, expressing their gratitude for getting to spend the holidays with those they love. Backed by jingle bells and gorgeous harmonies, Little Mix bring some holiday cheer accompanied by an adorable video including shots of the girls on tour.
“I’ve felt too lonely to sleep/ Boy, when you’re on the wrong side of the world/ Now with the snow at our feet (Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)/ We’ll sit by the fire/ And we’ll set the scene together” Jesy sings effortlessly in the second verse, painting a lovely holiday scene of being snuggled up with a loved one. The girls prove that there is truly “no better gift” than spending time with people you love, and “One I’ve Been Missing” is a wonderful song to show the people in your life just how much you love and appreciate them this holiday season!
You can listen to the song below, and as always let me know your thoughts in the comments below! I just want to say a really huge thank you to Jesy for bringing her talent and bright personality to Little Mix for the past nine years, and I’m hoping that this new chapter in her life is full of so much happiness. Thank you for the wonderful memories Jesy, and to the rest of Little Mix, I’m excited for the future. Only five more days until Christmas!
