“Nobody Loves You” single cover. JP Duffey

Calling all fans of The Cure, LCD Soundsystem, Daft Punk, and the Talking Heads, meet Connecticut based Similar Kind! The band taking on the slogan “Music for you and your mom to listen to” formed in late 2018 and began to record music together in 2019. Founders Ben McNamara (guitar), Evan Murphy (synth/keys), and Miles Dominci decided to start up the band after their high school bands drifted apart, lead singer Julia Breen and bassist Nate Porter joined shortly after, and the five have been working on music since. The band’s main goal is to make music that people can dance and have fun to, but they also hope that listeners will feel the emotion behind certain lyrics.

With a new wave sound, you’ll find yourself getting lost in Julia’s dreamy vocals and the nostalgia inducing sounds of “Nobody Loves You”. It talks about a love no one understands unless they’re in it, and you’ll find yourself nodding and singing along in no time. “Nobody loves you like I do/ Nobody sees what’s going on”, Julia sings in the chorus over the catchy instrumentals. This song is perfect for driving, I can totally see myself jamming out to this in the car on my way to work or while I’m just cruising around. It’s a great vibe and if you’re into new wave sounds, definitely keep Similar Kind on your radar!

Be sure to follow the band on Instagram and stream the song on Apple Music and Spotify, or any of your other preferred streaming services! Listen to the song below and let me know your thoughts!
