Sunday Sounds: July 26, 2020, “Holiday”

The girls of Little Mix are back and with this new release, they’re taking us on a “Holiday”! The girls hinted at the single release on July 7 by posting throwback vacation pictures to their individual Instagram accounts. “Holiday” was officially announced as a single on July 16, and the single was released this past Friday, July 24, just in time for the final Sunday Sounds of July.
“Holiday” is the second single from the highly anticipated sixth studio album from Little Mix, which is rumored to release later this year. This song is the perfect summer love song. Lyrics such as “I swear, you put the sun up in my sky” and “We’re just dancing the night away/ Boy, you feel like a holiday” are catchy and sung so effortlessly by the girls. Perrie’s vocals are a standout on this track, leading the post chorus with her powerful voice as she sings “So, I’mma let go/ No one else in the world could ever come close to you, baby”. When all four girls join in on the bridge, their voices blend perfectly together as they harmonize with one another, “So, put your love on me, up on me/ Oh, boy, I love you when you‘re touching me, holding me”. If you can get to the beach (safely!), make sure you have this song queued up to play during the day, it’s a must add to your summer playlist!
