The Colour and the Shape album cover. Genius

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and father figures out there! In honor of Father’s Day, I wanted to write a Father’s Day inspired post and dedicate it to the coolest dad out there, my dad of course!

I grew up listening to a lot of cool music, not really understanding it or knowing what any of it was until I was older, but Foo Fighters were a pretty relevant part of my childhood and it wasn’t until later in life I began to fully appreciate them. My dad was the one who really enjoyed the Foos and sparked the interest in me, I eventually looked more into them on my own but it was Dad who inspired it. We often bond over seeing them live and just how freaking awesome Dave Grohl is, but the one song we talk about the most is the seventh track off of The Colour And The Shape, “My Hero” (or as Dad loves to call it just to get on my nerves, “Hero”).

The lyrics are pretty self explanatory; it’s not the people like Kiss or The Beatles who are Dave’s heroes, it’s the ordinary people in his life that may not have all the most luxurious and lavish things in life, but work pretty damn hard to make sure Dave grew up in a loving environment. My dad works really hard to make sure my family is taken care of and has a really good life, and I can’t thank him enough for it. So, Dad, thanks for being one of my heroes, and Happy Father’s Day!
