Lily Soleil is following up her dreamy release of “Stargazing” with an edgier sound, and a topic typical of a lot of songs; going through a breakup. Speaking about the track, the singer said this year she went through her first breakup, which is always a hard thing to go through. Soleil wanted to channel her energy into a new song, which led to the creation of “Cryin’”. The track officially dropped on Friday, making it the perfect way to wrap up September’s Sunday Sounds!

Written in only two hours, “Cryin’” captures Lily’s feelings surrounding the breakup. It was recorded over a two month period at her local recording studio, and the instrumentals are jam packed with electric and acoustic guitars, a steady drum track, and of course Lily’s anger fueled voice. Emulating a late 90s/early 2000s sound, “Cryin’” highlights Lily’s efforts to regain her confidence while simultaneously coping with the loss of this significant other and their relationship together. We see Lily’s struggle with moving on, “It’s gonna hurt for a while/ It’ll take me some time to move on from you/ And get back to my life”. However, by the end of the chorus Lily is radiating confidence as she states, “And I know I’ll be the one who’s fine/ And you’ll be the one who’s cryin’”.
