Quickly following up her release of “Messed Up”, Saturn Lane is back with what is arguably her best track yet. Opening up about coming to terms with the mistakes she’s made in life, “Didn’t Know Better” showcases one of Saturn’s best vocal performances, and with an upbeat instrumental track you’ll feel all your worries about your own mistakes melt away.

Like a lot of Saturn’s music, she drew on past experiences. Speaking about what inspired the lyrics, Saturn said “I spent so much time beating myself up for the times I said or did something I looked back and regretted. Eventually, I knew that the only way to heal and become happier was to forgive myself, acknowledge that I didn’t know then what I know now, and laugh it off as best as I can”. Saturn felt that saying she “should’ve known better” still felt like she was shaming herself; you can’t know everything all the time, and that’s okay. Making the title “Didn’t Know Better” removes the shame aspect and reminds listeners that they won’t have all the answers, and learning from your mistakes is sometimes the only thing you can do.

You can tell how much fun Saturn had writing and recording this track, it’s evident in every aspect of the song, and that’s what makes this such a fantastic listen. You can stream the track on Apple Music, Spotify, or any other streaming service.
