UK based artist Isabel Maria released her debut EP The Melodramatic Milers Club on October 20, 2023. The EP took on a life of its own, and in March, Isabel recorded a live version of the EP. While the six songs on the original EP all sound just as stunning during live takes, it’s the bonus track, “T-Shirt”, that truly steals the show. Produced by South Shields’ Harbourmaster Productions and written and performed by Isabel, the track is striking and bold in the simplest ways.

Speaking about the track, Isabel shares that she wrote the song for the EP but decided not to put it on The Melodramatic Milers Club. “It’s a really personal track about feeling shunned by people, and I’m glad it’s finally seeing the light of day,” Isabel said. Now that it’s here, it’s quickly become a fan favorite and the heart of the EP.

Surrounding the topics of broken relationships and toxicity, the vulnerable lyrics are sung gently over a simple piano melody accompanied by subtle strings. Isabel’s lyricism shines through, the soft instruments allowing you to get swept up in her voice. You can feel the pain in her voice as she sings about her own experiences with heartbreak and outgrowing someone who just isn’t meant for her. In this instance, the toxic patterns are like old items of clothing; even when we know they no longer serve us, it can be hard to get rid of because they’re familiar.

“T-Shirt” is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music. Make sure to follow Isabel on Instagram to stay up to date with her future releases, and if you’re in the UK area check to see if she’s coming to a city near you!
