TARA Is A Hip-Hop Alternative Artist To Keep An Ear Out For
Samantha Colleran, November 2020
TARA is an independent hip-hop artist hailing from San Antonio, TX. She’s a singer, songwriter, and rapper who puts her own unique spin on the music she creates. In 2018 she was first introduced to the industry by a fellow college artist named JJ. She showed him a video of herself singing while he was working on his own music. Immediately hooked on her sound and flow, JJ asked her to be on a few of his songs to which TARA agreed, and she decided from that point on she wanted a career in music.
TARA is a fearless performer who catches everyone’s attention. During her first ever live performance back in 2019 (when concerts and live shows were a real thing and not just a thought), the microphone cut out while she was performing. The technical difficulty didn’t stop TARA from singing her heart out and keeping the crowd entertained, which is a powerful move on her part.
TARA is performing at a festival in Texas in December called LoudFest, with obvious precautions in place such as social distancing and all attendees have to wear masks! Her team is also working on planning a livestream concert sometime in November, prior to her LoudFest lineup. She’s unsure of whether or not she wants to release more music this year, but she does have a number of songs that she’s holding onto for the right moment and is eager to share them with her audience!
TARA appreciates and loves all forms of music, but some of the most notable influences on her work include The Weeknd, Kid Cudi, Sizzy Rocket, and Lauren Sanderson. These influences can clearly be heard in songs such as “self deprecation” and “don’t wanna talk”. On her Instagram, TARA has also covered a few songs from these artists, most recently she did a cover of The Weeknd’s song “Heartless”.
TARA’s music is currently available to stream on Apple Music, Spotify (where she just hit over 100 monthly listeners!), YouTube, and Soundcloud! Be sure to follow TARA on Instagram and Twitter to be the first to hear about new releases on her end! You can listen to “self deprecation” below!
